Westmeath 0-11 Galway 1-12 

With five minutes on the clock and the sides locked level, Shane Walsh broke the game wide open as he picked off a poor Ray Connellan cross-field ball and headed for goal. A quick solo stalled goalkeeper Jason Daly, a smashed finish decided the tie.
