Sunday’s Tipperary-Cork Munster SHC Round 4 game is set to attract in excess of 40,000 to FBD Semple Stadium.

Over 39,000 tickets had been sold for the game by midweek and the Thurles stadium is expected to record its biggest provincial attendance at the venue since the 2022 Munster final when 43,112 watched Limerick beat Clare.

When the sides met in Thurles in the final round two years ago, 27,131 were in attendance, although Tipperary were all but out of the competition going into the game.

In the couple of hours following Cork’s dramatic win over Limerick last Saturday, 8,000 tickets were purchased for this Sunday’s match.

Less than 16,000 tickets have been sold for the Clare-Waterford Round 4 game in Cusack Park, which is slightly slower than expected. A crowd of 16,144 took in the corresponding fixture in Ennis in Round 5 two years ago.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for the two All-Ireland SFC Round 1 games involving Munster teams have been disappointing. Earlier this week, fewer than 1,000 tickets had been bought for the Clare-Cork Group 3 game in Cusack Park on Saturday, while just over 3,000 have been sold for the all-Division 1 meeting of Kerry and Monaghan in Fitzgerald Stadium that same afternoon.

The GAA have attempted to incentivise attendances for the group stages with a three-for-the-price-of-two offer.
