Laois hammer Meath in McDonagh Cup, no surprises in the Christy Ring

It was all landslides in the lower tiers, with the exception of Roscommon’s trip to the Athletic Grounds to take on Armagh in the Nickey Rackard Cup.

While Kerry made it two from two in the Joe McDonagh Cup and Offaly put themselves right back in contention with a big home win over Westmeath, Laois remain well in control of this championship after they followed up last week’s win over the Faithful County with a 7-29 to 1-16 thrashing of Meath in Trim on Saturday.

The first half was tight up until Meath’s James Toher pulled down Tomas Keyes for a penalty and received a black card on the half hour, with Enda Rowland firing in the penalty to kick off a run of 1-6 unanswered before half-time.
