Former GAA president Liam O’Neill has dismissed as “nonsense” the idea of the Leinster senior football championship being pushed to the start of the season.

O’Neill served as Leinster chairman between 2005 and ’07 and headed up the East Leinster football project in 2016, which contributed an additional €1.5 million to Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow to employ more GAA coaches over three years and has since been extended to other counties in the province.
