ANDY. Moran's Leitrim proved the big winners on the final regular weekend of the Allianz Football League as the pipped Wexford to promotion from Division 4.
Leitrim, who suffered Championship defeat at the hands of New York last year, beat Tipperary decisively 0-15 to 0-9 in their final game in Carrick-on-Shannon to go up with top-placed Laois to the third tier. Longford had their destiny in their own hands but fell to a comprehensive 2-18 to 2-9 defeat at Wexford Park, allowing Leitrim to finish in second place on the head to head.
The end game will sting, however, for Wexford who lost out to Leitrim in Rd 3 courtesy of a controversial last-minute penalty award that decided the contest.
Wicklow and Limerick will be playing Division 4 football next season after their relegation from the third division.Wicklow went down in Antrim while the result in Tullamore, a 1-10 to 0-12 for 13-man Offaly, consigned Limerick to their fate.
The Division One decider next Sunday will be between Dublin and Derry, the latter's win over Roscommon also confirming the Connacht county's relegation with Monaghan. The Division 2 decider may be the tastiest of next weekend's league finale - Armagh facing Donegal, who finished top on 13 points to Armagh's 12.
Despite Fermanagh's success over Cavan, they are relegated alongside pointless Kildare from Division 2. Cork finished fourth in Division 2, strengthening the likelihood they will be in the Sam Maguire Championship irrespective whether they reach a provincial final.
Down and Westmeath will swap places with Fermanagh and Kildare. The Mourne men eventually had a comfortable 3-15 to 1-10 win over Mark Fitzgerald's Clare in the day's chief winner-takes-all clash in Newry.
