The Irish F1 Show has been nominated for the'Best Motorsport Podcast' at the Global Sport Podcast Awards.
The popular podcast will have to overcome some fierce competition if they are to land the award as the likes of the Sky Sports F1 Podcast, BBC, Red Bull and others feature in the same category.
But speaking to Kevin Regan insists they are just happy to have been shortlisted alongside such huge names having rose to prominence from such humble beginnings.
"This is beyond our wildest dreams. To be a finalist is incredible, but of course we would love to win it!" began Kevin Regan.
“The Irish F1 Show came about after a chat with well renowned Irish racing driver Richard Kearney at the end of 2021.
“We kicked things off in 2022 and another of Ireland's top racing drivers Meath man Barry Rabbitt came on board as we became a three piece. Soon after it became a quartet with another well know Racing Driver Mike Dermody also coming on board.
“The whole concept is a few lads having the craic after each race and some people have told us it’s a comedy podcast with an F1 twist!
"Somehow since then we’ve managed to get well known F1, Horse Racing and Rugby broadcaster Lee McKenzie on the show as well as Conor Moore of Conor Sketches and RTÉ’s Peter Collins.
"I’m basically doing this in a garden shed which is converted into a make shift studio with the lads on a zoom call and yet, with such limited resources, we’ve been shortlisted alongside Sky Sports, BBC, Red Bull and several others."
If they are to emerge victorious, Regan and co are likely to need the assistance of their listeners and the Irish public.
"Voting is open until January 28th with the winner announced on February 1st. Voting can be done via the pinned posts on our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @irishf1show and in sportpodcastgroup.com under the vote now section in the Best Motorsport Podcast Category," he concluded.
