David Clifford presents Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with signed Kerry jersey
HAIL HAIL: David Clifford presents Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with a Kerry jersey.
Not sure if a Kerry jersey was high up on the list of things Brendan Rodgers wanted for Christmas but he looked pleased to receive it on the side of the pitch at Celtic Park on Saturday.
Or maybe he was just pleased to be in the illustrious company of none other than Kerry great David Clifford, who presented him with the gift.
Or maybe the Celtic boss was just pleased to have seen Kyogo Furuhashi hit his first goal in eight games to send the Hoops back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Livingston.
“Any striker wants to get goals but it’s not just about the striker. A striker can can get 40 goals but it’s no good if other members aren’t contributing," said Rodgers shortly after full time.
“It was nice to get goal for him and nice to get one from a set-piece. We had more chance to work on that and we need to be much better in that area but we looked a threat.”
Clifford timed his visit to Paradise well as that aforementioned goal from a set-piece was scored by Republic of Ireland international Liam Scales - his first goal of the season - which ensured Celtic remain top of the tree on Christmas day.
It was a good day all round for Rodgers and co, topped off with receiving a Kerry jersey - a signed Kerry jersey at that - from one of Gaelic Football's greatest ever players.
