Former Galway full-back Finian Hanley is to succeed John O’Mahony as Salthill-Knocknacarra senior football manager.
Two-time All-Ireland winning manager O’Mahony was in charge of the club for the past two seasons and is to be replaced by 38-year-old Hanley who was a selector to him and won two senior county titles with Salthill-Knocknacarra as a player.
O’Mahony was thanked by the club for “the vast experience he has imparted”.
A statement read: “An obvious highlight during John’s term with our Senior Football team, was our club reaching the County Final (v Moycullen) in 2022 with low expectations at the start of this year and on a different day, this is a game we could have won and would have provided a spectacular finish to his first year with the club and added yet another achievement to John’s amazing CV within the GAA at every level.”
Former Galway forward Seán Armstrong is also remaining on as a selector to Hanley as is Norman Costello and Joe Greaney.
O’Mahony said: “I am delighted to see that a number of my back-room team will be joining Finian. I am confident that the progress of last two years will be built upon in the coming campaigns.”
