Kilkenny’s vote to restore the underage grades to even years and decouple 16-year-olds from playing adult club level was carried by a substantial majority.

A secret ballot at Monday’s county board meeting, the return of U14, U16 and U18 had been anticipated given Kilkenny had spoken against the odd age grades at Annual Congress and the strong belief among club delegates and some board officials that the U18 grade served better player retention as the official minor grade.
