FRESH-ER TRIALS: The clash between University of Galway and ATU Galway in Dangan was one of the fixtures where the new rules were were trialed.

The players exposed to the new rule trials in the Higher Education Gaelic football league are Billy Beane’s Grady. Bewildered, unprepared, without detailed explanations and faced with a ruthless choice: adapt or die.

There have been two rounds of games played with the new suggestions from the GAA’s Standing Committee on Playing Rules. One relates to the kickout, which must travel beyond the 45-metre line before a team-mate of the goalkeeper can play the ball.
