Down GAA have criticised Kilcoo for their “baseless” contestation of Paul Faloon’s appointment as referee for yesterday’s senior county football final in Newry.

Kilcoo unsuccessfully challenged his presence in the game to the Disputes Resolution Authority. However, the Drumgath man stepped down and was to be replaced by Meath’s David Gough before Brian Higgins took charge of the game in which Kilcoo were convincing winners over Burren.
