Here’s the man who will succeed Anthony Cunningham as Galway manager
Micheál Donoghue has been ratified as the new Galway Senior Hurling manager.
The Clarinbridge clubman takes over from Anthony Cunningham, who resigned after a month of controversy, in which players expressed a lack of confidence in their manager.
Cunningham was ousted from his position by senior players, who were unhappy with his communication and training methods.
Donoghue has been chosen to manage the All-Ireland runners-up after an interview process that also featured Mattie Kenny and Justin Campbell.
The Clarinbridge native, who led his club to their first All-Ireland Club title in 2011, was part of Eamon O'Shea's coaching team at Tipperary for the past two years but has now agreed to replace Cunningham.
Turloughmore's Frannie Ford is expected to form part of Donoghue's backroom team.
