Curran slams Roscommon boss John Evans after Sligo defeat

Former Roscommon goalkeeper Shane Curran has launched a stinging attack on the Roscommon management following their .

Speaking on RTE’S new radio show The Marty Squad, the colourful pundit claimed his native county were beaten before the game started.

Roscommon manager John Evans.

“It went wrong before it even started, Sligo were everything that we were not. We were completely disorganised. Stephen Hawking wouldn’t work out the manoeuvres that Roscommon management did prior to throw in.”

He continued: “I think John Evans will be very disappointed. Our championship record under him is quite poor. I know he spoke about challenging for All-Ireland honours in the next few years and that is a great way to look at things.”

“There is a huge group of players coming through without a doubt. Is John Evans the man to bring them forward? I don’t think that after yesterday’s display. Is he a good coach? Is he a good manager? I would say that he is not.”

“He’s had to bring in Liam Kearns over the last 12 months. We think there was a structure coming into Roscommon’s football over the League but it’s gone backwards with yesterday’s performance.

Roscommon who won promotion to Division 1 of the national football league in the spring were drawn away to Cavan in the qualifier draw this morning.
