Cadogan to miss Munster SHC opener against Waterford

Cork dual star Eoin Cadogan will miss the Rebels’ Munster SHC opener against Waterford on Sunday, according to manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy.

The Douglas clubman picked up a hamstring injury in Cork’s National Football League loss to Mayo on March 16.

“Eoin isn’t available now. We trained last night and he couldn’t train, so he’s not on the panel for the Waterford game. Paul Haughney is a doubt as well but apart from that, the squad is healthy,” Barry-Murphy said on Friday.

Cadogan has not lined out for the hurlers since the 2012 All-Ireland semi-final loss to Galway, having focused on his football instead.

There is better news for Cork supporters with the Paudie O’ Sullivan to the to the fray ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Déise however.

O'Sullivan suffered a dreadful leg break while playing for his club side last year but has battled back and will be part of the Cork panel come Sunday, according to Barry-Murphy.

“There’s been a great improvement in Paudie the last two weeks,” said Barry-Murphy. “We played a couple of challenge games and he’s come through them, he’s been very good.

O’ Sullivan played 35 minutes against Wexford recently and anther half an hour against Dublin in Cashel a little over a week ago.

"He's been through a horrendous time with four or five operations and it's been very hard on him mentally so it's great to see him back in contention and it's a great boost," Barry-Murphy added.
