Donegal and Fingal to meet in final

Donegal and Fingal will meet in the Allianz Hurling League Division 3A final, with the Dublin outfit getting the better of the Ulster side in Letterkenny this afternoon, while Louth and Fermanagh also claimed wins.

At O'Donnell Park, Donegal suffered their first defeat of the campaign as Fingal registered a 2-11 to 1-9 win over the hosts.

Brian McCarthy and Peter Daly fired first half goals for the visitors as Fingal claimed a 2-3 to 0-7 interval lead.

A Paddy Hannigan goal pushed Donegal ahead by a point a minute after the restart, but Donegal proved wasteful in front of the posts.

The hosts, who rested many of their regular starters including Lee Henderson, only added two more points, with Ciaran Mattheson and Hannigan guilty of squandering opportunities in front of the posts and Donegal also failed to convert a penalty.

Louth, meanwhile, registered their third victory of the campaign as they accounted for Tyrone on a 5-11 to 0-15 scoreline at Healy Park in Omagh.

However, Fingal's win over Donegal ensured that the Wee County missed out on a place in the Division 3A decider.

Louth led by 3-7 to 0-5 at half-time, with a Shane Callan (1-3) goal coupled with two from Diarmuid Murphy (3-1) helping the visitors to an 11-point interval lead.

Damien Casey, Marc Devine and Gary Fox helped cut the gap to four points inside 10 minutes of the restart.

Louth finished strongly with Murphy completing his hat-trick in the 62nd minute to ensure a 4-10 to 0-13 advantage.

Casey kept Tyrone in touch with his tenth point, but Gerard Smyth grabbed Louth's fifth goal late on.

The Fermanagh hurlers worked hard to take a 1-9 to 0-10 verdict over Monaghan at Brewster Park in Enniskillen.

The Ernesiders led by 1-6 to 0-4 at half-time, with excellent scores from JP McGarry, Ryan Bogue and John Duffy.

Fermanagh's goal was an own goal after the Monaghan defence failed to clear a long range free delivered in on top of their full-back line by Duffy in the 12th minute.

Monaghan fought back on the restart, with Fermanagh forced to work hard after the dismissal of Karl Kehoe on a second yellow card entering the final quarter.
