Kildare lose to Derry, Kerry beat Wicklow in Division 2A

Derry and Kerry recorded wins in Division 2A of the Allianz Hurling League this evening.

At Celtic Park, Derry claimed their second victory of the campaign, beating Kildare by 1-17 to 1-14.

Kildare led by 1-8 to 0-7 at half-time, but Derry put them under huge pressure on the restart. The visitors led by 1-11 to 0-8 on the restart, with Derry's Conor Quinn failing to find the net with a penalty.

The Oak Leafers continued to work hard with the sides tied at 1-12 apiece after 55 minutes, with Ruairi Convery netting a Derry goal to level the contest.

Kildare were dealt a major blow following a second yellow card for Fiachra Ó Muineacháin, as Derry kicked on with Convery impressive.

Kerry claimed a 1-12 to 3-5 triumph over Wicklow on home soil at Austin Stack Park in Tralee.

Kerry led by 0-5 to 1-1 at the end of the opening quarter, with Wayne O'Gorman netting Wicklow's goal.

The Kingdom, who led 1-7 to 1-3 at the break, had goalkeeper Bernard Rochford to thank for some superb saves in the opening 35 minutes, while Shane Nolan claimed their goal.

Wicklow were goal hungry on the restart, with Jonathan 'Bosco' O'Neill and Andy O'Brien cracking home goals, however Kerry held out for victory.

Wicklow finished the game with 14 men following the dismissal of O'Gorman on a second yellow card.
