Kieran McGeeney's sixth season in charge of the Kildare senior football team was confirmed at a County Board meeting last night.

Former Kildare defender Damien Hendy, who retired in 2010, will come on board as a second selector alongside the long-serving Niall Carew.

Hendy replaces Armagh native John Rafferty who, in turn, had taken over from Aidan O'Rourke for this past season.

McGeeney's senior management team will be completed by a fourth member in due course.

In a new development for 2013, 'Geezer' will also manage the Kildare Under-21 footballers. He has been given the role after Alan Barry's three-year reign came to an end.

Carew, Syl Merrins and Clane's Tom Cribbin, who previously managed Offaly, will be McGeeney's selectors for the Under-21 panel.
