Fermanagh captain may require surgery

Fermanagh captain Ryan McCluskey will find out on Monday if he requires major surgery after sustaining a sinus cavity fracture in an accidential collision in training earlier this week.

The 30-year-old was discharged from Altnagelvin Hospital yesterday, having been seen by a specialist where he received news of the extent of his injury.

The defender now looks set to miss all of the Ulster Championship should Fermanagh progress, while he could also be ruled out of the Erne County's opening games in the qualifiers if they are forced to continue their summer campaign via the back door route.

"(I) thankfully got out of hospital yesterday folks and home now," McCluskey wrote on his Facebook page this morning

McCluskey has been bombarded with messages of support following news of his injury, and is hugely appreciative of all this goodwill.

"Thank you also for the messages of support. (I am) overwhelmed by the support.

"(I) could be out for a while and may require major surgery which I will find out (about) on Monday. The show goes on!"

Fermanagh's opening game in this year's Ulster Football Championship is against Down on Sunday, June 3, with the winners facing a semi-final against either Monaghan or Antrim on Sunday, June 24.
