Hurling League Division 2B round-up
Kildare, Mayo and London got off to winning starts in the opening round of Hurling League Division 2B this afternoon.
Visitors Kildare withstood a determined second half rally from Meath to take a 1-12 to 0-13 win at Pairc Tailteann.
Leixlip's Paul Divilly netted the only goal of the contest after just three minutes as the Lilywhites took an early 1-1 to 0-0 advantage.
Divilly's goal was the difference at the break on a 1-06 to 0-06 interval scoreline, and although Kildare were outscored in the closing 35 minutes they held out for a two-point victory.
Mayo finished strongly to secure a 0-16 to 1-06 success over their Connacht rivals Roscommon at Athleague.
The Rossies led by 1-06 to 0-05 at half-time, but were reduced to 14 men on the restart as Mayo took control.
Meanwhile, a brace of first half goals helped London to a 2-21 to 0-10 triumph over Armagh at Ruislip.
London stormed into a 2-12 to 0-01 interval lead, but the sides were evenly matched on the restart, sharing 18 second half points equally.
