Walsh dropped as Cork hurling manager
The Cork County Board have confirmed that they have begun the search for a new manager.
In a statement this afternoon, the county board announced that they havedecided to end the reign of Denis Walsh and have informed him of their decision.
Walsh's two-year term came to an end following the team's disappointing All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Galway, but he was thought to be hopeful of retaining the job.
The County Board's Appointment Committee will now begin the process of finding a new manager, with Rebels' legend Jimmy Barry-Murphy being strongly linked with the post.
County Board chairman Jerry O'Sullivan said Walsh had been informed of the decision to change manager, and had accepted it graciously.
"On behalf of the County Committee, I wish to place on record our sincere thanks to Denis for his trojan work on behalf of the County hurling team over the past two and a half years," O'Sullivan said.
"Denis has given outstanding service to this County as both a great dual player, and as a Manager/Coach, and we know he will continue to serve the Association well in various capacities in the future.
"The Appointment Committee is now proceeding with its consideration of the appointment of a Manager but no further information is available at this stage."
