Liam Ryan will make his first start of the summer when Dublin clash with reigning All-Ireland hurling champions Tipperary in Sunday's semi-final.

In a reshuffled attack, Maurice O'Brien loses out and the experienced Ryan from O'Toole's slots in at full-forward.

Ryan, who captained the Dubs to Walsh Cup success earlier this year, started against both Wexford and Offaly in the Allianz Hurling League.

Michael Carton is listed at right half-back, with stand-in captain Johnny McCaffrey joining former All-Star Alan McCrabbe in midfield.

Dublin Under-21 skipper Liam Rushe is listed on the left wing, and David 'Dotsy' O'Callaghan and free-taker Paul Ryan flank the newly-introduced Ryan in the full-forward line.

Despite beating Tipp earlier in the league campaign and finishing as Division 1 champions, Anthony Daly's charges are rated as rank outsides for this weekend's game at Croke Park (throw-in 3.30pm).

Rushe says that the tag of underdogs suits the men from the capital, stating: "I can't wait for the game. Probably the biggest game of my life really, isn't it?

"I'd like to think this year we're a bit more mature. In certain areas we're probably written off, so it's a strong position for us to be in. We go in as total underdogs and just give it a lash.

"This year, we just took every game as it came and gave it everything. Maybe we haven't hurled as well as we did in bits of the league.

"It's a bit of a paradox - that summer hurling should be better - but we dug out wins when maybe we shouldn't have. We've fought until the end."

DUBLIN (SHC v Tipperary): Gary Maguire; Niall Corcoran, Peter Kelly, Paul Schutte; Michael Carton, Joey Boland, Shane Durkin; Alan McCrabbe, Johnny McCaffrey; Conor McCormack, Ryan O’Dwyer, Liam Rushe; David O’Callaghan, Liam Ryan, Paul Ryan.
