Cavan monitor fitness of Flanagan and O'Reilly

Cavan managers Val Andrews and Terry Hyland are sweating on the fitness of key players Ronan Flanagan and Padraic O'Reilly ahead of their Ulster SFC quarter-final against Donegal.

The Breffni men are preparing for the June 12 encounter, with Andrews admitting: "Podge (Padraic O'Reilly) and Ronan Flanagan are both carrying injuries. Patrick Carroll has an ongoing problem but overall we are not too bad."

O'Reilly has knee and hamstring problems at present. The loss of the Ballinagh star would be a huge blow to Cavan as he offers huge versility, being equally at home in defence or midfield.

For Flanagan the prognosis is more serious. The Castlerahan forward has damaged his pubic bone due to overuse and Andrews is hoping that some rest and recuperation will do the trick.

"It is basically rest and an injection for Ronan (at this stage). He has been treated (for the injury)," he added.

"It is just a matter of waiting to see how he reacts. He has been out for seven weeks at this stage (since the league game against Tipperary)."
