Cavan unchanged for All-Ireland U-21 final
Cavan are set to field an unchanged team for Sunday's Cadbury All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship final against Galway at Croke Park (throw-in 2pm).
It is the same side that beat pre-match favourites Tyrone in the recent Ulster U-21 final and followed that victory up, three days later, by overcoming Wexford in an All-Ireland semi-final.
The versatile Marc Leddy will partner team captain Gearoid McKiernan in midfield, with Niall Murray and Niall McDermott, the Breffni side's goal scorers against Tyrone and Wexford, leading the attack from centre-forward and full-forward respectively.
Notably, Cavan's defensive sextet play their football for six difference clubs - Butlersbridge, Redhills, Killeshandra Leaguers, Cavan Gaels, Ramor United and Mullahoran Dreadnoughts. Goalkeeper Alan O'Mara also hails from Bailieborough Shamrocks.
The likes of Turloc Mooney, Patrick King, Conor McClarey, Kevin Tierney and Colm Smith, who were brought on as substitutes against Wexford, will have to be content with places on the bench once again.
After annexing their third Ulster Under-21 title, Cavan are bidding for their first All-Ireland success at this grade. They reached the All-Ireland U-21 final back in 1996, losing 1-17 to 2-10 to Kerry at Semple Stadium. Current selector Anthony Forde was part of the team that day.
