Relief for Tipp star McGrath

The ankle injury that forced Tipperary midfielder Shane McGrath off in yesterday's Division 1 clash with Wexford is not as serious as first feared.

McGrath had be carried off the Semple Stadium pitch after sustaining a knock to his right ankle, early in the second half.

The Ballinahinch clubman had the injury assessed today and it has shown up as little more than 'bad bruising.'

It is anticipated that he will be back in training towards the end of the week as the All-Ireland champions prepare for their Munster SHC clash with Cork on Sunday, May 29.

Today's news is a fillip for Tipperary manager Declan Ryan who is already planning without McGrath's regular midfield partner Brendan Maher. He broke his ankle last month.
