Munster club SFC round-up

Waterford's Stradbally and Dr. Crokes of Kerry advanced to the AIB Munster Club SFC semi-finals today, while Aherlow were crowned Tipperary SFC champions.

At Fraher Field in Dungarvan, Stradbally edged out Clare champions Doonbeg by 0-7 to 0-4 in a low-scoring encounter.

Stradbally always looked in control, in a game which was blighted by missed chances. The Waterford side led by 0-5 to 0-1 at half-time, with Doonbeg registering 13 wides in the opening half hour.

Stradbally will now face Cork side Nemo Rangers in the semi-finals on Sunday, November 21.

Dr. Crokes were always in control as they claimed a comfortable 2-13 to 1-3 win over Limerick's Monaleen at Killarney.

Dr Crokes will take on Tipperary champions Aherlow in two weeks' time. Aherlow secured county silverware today following a slender 2-4 to 1-6 win over Loughmore-Castleiney at Semple Stadium.

Loughmore-Castleiney led by 1-4 to 1-0 after 24 minutes, with Cian Hennessy claiming their goal.

Aherlow's three-pointer was registered by Conor O'Shea in the 17th minute after a good save initially by David McGrath.

Loughmore-Castleiney were 1-5 to 1-1 ahead at half-time, but only managed to score a point in the closing 30 minutes.

A Barry Grogan goal turned the game in Aherlow's favour. Tipperary star Grogan was outstanding throughout as Aherlow claimed their first Tipperary SFC title since 2006.
