Westmeath due to unveil manager tonight
Westmeath GAA are set to announce their new senior football manager tonight after a meeting with club delegates at Cusack Park in Mullingar.
It is understood that the meeting will just present a single candidate for ratification, although Dessie Dolan Snr and Pat Flanagan are both firmly in the running.
Offaly native Flanagan took over as interim boss last April, after the departure of former Athletics Ireland chief Brendan Hackett.
Flanagan took over on the understanding that his term was just for the duration of the Championship, after which the position of Westmeath manager would again be re-examined.
Six weeks after his appointment Flanagan guided the Lake County side to a Leinster SFC quarter-final win over Wicklow.
However, Westmeath bowed out of the provincial series following a semi-final loss to Louth at Croke Park, while they failed to bounce back in the qualifiers, losing to Derry.
Dolan is currently managing Roscommon club side Clann na nGael, and like Flanagan had his name in the ring for the position 12 months ago before Hackett was handed the role.
