O'Brien names unchanged Meath side

Meath manager Eamonn O'Brien has opted to stick with the same team from the recent Leinster final win for Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Kildare at Croke Park (throw-in 4pm).

Meath manager Eamonn O'Brien has opted to stick with the same team from the recent Leinster final win for Sunday's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Kildare at Croke Park (throw-in 4pm).

There is no change to the starting formation either, as O'Brien gives a vote of confidence to the side which overcame Louth by 1-12 to 1-10 in the provincial showpiece on July 11.

Cormac McGuinness and Peadar Byrne, who were used as second half substitutes against Louth, have failed to break into the starting line-up.

Despite naming an unchanged side, O'Brien knows his players will have to lift their game as they bid to qualifying for their third All-Ireland semi-final in four years.

"I actually didn't think our (Leinster semi-final) win over Dublin was a very good performance," he said.

"I think luck was on our side that day, things went our way. The amount of possession we gave away that day wasn't good."

The Royals boss added: "The performance against Louth wasn't impressive either.

"When we perform well, we are a match for any side, but if we don't play to our full potential we struggle. We need a good performance against Kildare."

MEATH (SFC v Kildare): B Murphy; C O'Connor, K Reilly, E Harrington; A Moyles, G O'Brien, C King; N Crawford (capt), B Meade; S Kenny, J Sheridan, G Reilly; C Ward, S O'Rourke, S Bray.
