Cork hurler Horgan allays injury concerns
Cork Senior hurler Patrick Horgan has alleyed concerns that a shoulder injury may see him absent for the Rebels for their Munster SHC quarter-final against Tipperary later this month.
The corner-forward scored three points in last Sunday's Allianz NHL final loss to Galway, despite picking up a knock during the game.
There had been speculation earlier this week, that Horgan would be ruled out for two to three weeks, but the Glen Rovers clubman has confirmed he will be available for the Cork-Tipp clash.
"I got a knock in the league final but it's nothing," he told the Irish Examiner.
"I won’t miss a training session with it, it was just one of those things that lasts for as long as the game you’re in."
This is good news for Cork manager Denis Walsh, who already has a mounting injury list to contend with ahead of the May 30 clash.
Michael Cussen bagged two points in the league final defeat, and played the full game despite sustaining a hand injury.
A scan earlier this week revealed the full extent of the injury which is likely to rule him out of contention for the Tipperary match.
Dual-star Eoin Cadogan is also a major concern, after the full-back missed the closing stages of Cork's hurling and football league campaigns.
Defender Ray Ryan is also doubtful after picking up a shoulder injury during Monday night’s challenge match against Waterford in Ballyduff.
The injury is a recurrence of a previous problem that Ryan has had with his shoulder and forced him to miss a league match with his club Sarsfields on Tuesday night.
Ryan is expected to find out the full extent of his injury in the coming days.
