Dubs' delight as McCrabbe injury 'not serious'

Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly is breathing a sigh of relief after it emerged that his All-Star midfielder Alan McCrabbe was not seriously injured in yesterday's NHL Division 1 game against Waterford.

The Walsh Park encounter was held up for over ten minutes in the second half as team medics and ambulance staff tended to McCrabbe and helped him into an ambulance.

He went down heavily after competing for possession with Waterford's Jamie Nagle close to the sideline, with initial fears that he had broken a bone in his leg.

Daly said afterwards: "Alan was trying to shield the ball as it was going out and the Waterford guy (Jamie Nagle) was trying to keep it in by pulling on it and he missed the ball but I don't think it was too intentional."

A subsequent X-ray has confirmed that no bones were broken and McCrabbe has suffered just bad bruising to the knee area.

He is currently on crutches and has not yet been ruled out for the Dubs' league clash with Tipperary at Parnell Park next Sunday.
