Gilroy gets Dublin board backing

The Dublin GAA Board Management Committee decided unanimously last night to extend their senior football management team's term by a further year to include the 2011 Championship.

Manager Pat Gilroy attended the meeting of the County Committee last Monday night and outlined his future plans and received the unanimous support of the delegates.

Paul Nugent has resigned as a selector for business reasons and has been replaced by David Hickey.

Gilroy's first season in charge ended in heartbreak for the Dubs as they crashed out to eventual champions Kerry in a one-sided All-Ireland quarter-final.

The Metropolitans finished mid-table in National Football League Division 1 but did make it five Leinster titles in-a-row, beating Kildare in the July decider.
