McKenna hopes for first Orchard success in 60 years

Armagh Minor captain Declan McKenna is hoping his side can bring home the Tom Markham Cup to the Orchard County for the first time in 60 years when they face Mayo in today's All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final at Croke Park (kick off: 1.15pm).

"It's a great achievement to be there first of all and to be captain of your own county, it's everybody's dream", he said.

McKenna says that it was important for Armagh to annex the Ulster title this year after disappointingly exiting the Championship early in 2008 to Cavan.

"It was a good thing for us to win Ulster. The last time we won it was in 2005 so thankfully we got through it this time.

"Thankfully there is a great work-rate in this team. Personally every Championship game is the toughest - it's a great battle.

"Some of us were very sickened with last year. We had the potential to do well but we didn't. This year we turned it around. Everyone gives 100 percent in training and it is of high intensity all of the time."
