Donaghy returns for Kerry

Former Footballer of the Year Kieran Donaghy has been named in the Kerry team for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier against Longford (Pearse Park, throw-in 5pm).

Donaghy is one of five personnel changes to the side that lost the recent Munster semi-final replay to Cork, with Donnacha Walsh, Aidan O'Shea, Sean O'Sullivan and Seamus Scanlon the other players drafted in.

Full-forward Donaghy's quicker than expected recovery from a fractured foot will see him rekindle his 'twin towers' partnership with Tommy Walsh.

Aidan O'Mahony and captain Darran O'Sullivan are the two biggest casualties as Kerry boss Jack O'Connor tries to reinvigorate his county's Championship challenge.

Marc O Se has been moved from corner back to take O'Mahony's regular berth at centre-back. Tommy Griffin, who played in midfield against Cork, will start the qualifier at full-back alongside Killian Young and Tom O'Sullivan.

A fully-fit Scanlon joins Darragh Ó Sé in midfield, while Walsh and Sean O'Sullivan replace the suspended Paul Galvin and hand injury victim Tadhg Kennelly respectively in the half-forward line.

Cromane clubman Walsh will captain the Kingdom side as they look for a repeat of their 4-11 to 1-11 qualifier win over Longford from three years ago.
