Cork U-21s make class tell against Waterford

Cork have powered their way to the Munster U- 21 football final with a nine-point victory against Waterford today a Paric Uí Rinn today.
Waterford will take heart for the fact that their losing margin was less then that of Kerry against Cork.
In the first 10 minutes of this game it seemed that Cork were in for a tough day as Waterford hit the front early through a James O’ Mahony free.
Cork quickly answered with a massive point from captain Colm O’ Neill.
Waterford would take the lead for the final time in the seventh minute when midfielder Sean O’Hare capitalised a lazy Cork defending to point from 30 yards.
Waterford have goalkeeper Stephen Enright to thank that they were not further behind at the break after he produced a string of amazing saves during the half. Cork hit the front through three unanswered points from Shane McCarthy and a double from O’ Neill.
Waterford tacked on another point but were then hit for six as Cork took over the last 20 minutes of the half to leave it 11 points to three at the half.
Cork came out like a house on fire after the half-time break, adding four points with two from David Goold and points from Sheehan and O’ Neill.
Waterford gave themselves something to cheer about when they came into the game for the final 10 minutes and it was corner forward James O’ Mahony who was impressive adding four points to his total as the game came to a close.
Cork now march on to next weeks final against Tipperary in Thurlus knowing they will need to match the type of performance they produced against Kerry if they are to claim the Munster crown.
