Canty and Murphy doubts for Cork

Cork manager Conor Counihan is due to name his team for Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final showdown with Kerry tonight, but there are still doubts over team captain Graham Canty and influential midfielder Nicholas Murphy.

Canty had to be substituted during the Rebels' Munster final win against Kerry last month due to a medial knee ligament strain.

He missed the recent All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Kildare as did Murphy, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

Sources in the Cork camp say Canty is winning his battle to be fit for the Kerry clash, while Murphy may have to be kept in reserve.

The pair both returned to training last Sunday, with Paudie Kissane (broken forearm) the only absentee.

Canty said: "If you're not 100% to take the field for Cork you're no good to anyone. If you're 99% and there's another fella at 100% behind you then he's always the better option.

"Time is a healer but I don't know if I've enough time. We'll have to see how it responds when we do a fitness test and see how it reacts."

Murphy, who sustained his injury a fortnight ago in training, admitted: "It will be totally in the physio's hands. I'll be letting him make the final call on it."
