Armagh select McNulty at corner-back
Enda McNulty has been promoted to the Armagh starting line-up for tomorrow's GAA Football All-Ireland quarter-final tie against Wexford at Croke Park, throw-in 2pm.
Sports psychologist McNulty, whose client David Gillick is tuning up for the Beijing Olympics, comes in at right corner-back to replace the injured Andy Mallon.
During the Ulster final replay win over Fermanagh, Mallon broke his arm in two places and 2002 All Star McNulty is his surprise replacement. The former will be out of action for six or seven weeks.
Armagh boss Peter McDonnell has made one other change with Stephen Kernan preferred to his brother Tony at left corner-forward.
Oisin McConville, Paul Kernan, Brendan Donaghy, Barry Shannon and Martin Ferris all remain on the substitutes bench, despite figuring prominently in training for the Ulster champions.
McDonnell rates Wexford highly and is expecting a tight game tomorrow as their opponents from Leinster are 'extremely difficult to break down.'
"If our season is over on Saturday then Andy won't be back, but I would hope that he can be back playing again by mid September and that's not suggesting anything other than club football. But make no mistake, he's a huge loss," McDonnell said.
Tomorrow's game marks the first championship meeting between Armagh and Wexford but they have been regular foes in the National League, with their recent clashes including the 2005 league final which the Orchard men won by 1-21 to 1-14.
Steven McDonnell, the Ulster GAA Writers' Monthly Merit award winner for July, has been Armagh's top scorer so far in the 2008 championship with a 1-17 haul.
Armagh's last appearance in an All-Ireland quarter-final in 2006 saw them lose by 3-15 to 1-13 to eventual champions Kerry.
