DRA throw out Galvin decision, order CHC to hear case
Due to procedural irregularities the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) have quashed the decision of the GAA's Central Hearings Committee (CHC) to suspend Kerry footballer Paul Galvin for six months.
The Kingdom captain was banned for his loss of discipline when he slapped a notebook from the hand of referee Paddy Russell during Kerry's Munster championship victory over Clare on June 15.
However, the DRA have ordered a newly-constituted CHC to hear Galvin's case as soon as possible and that Galvin remains suspended in the interim, until the disciplinary process is concluded.
In a statement issued this evening, the DRA said that they were "of the view that procedural irregularities occurred at the CHC hearing on June 23, 2008 which were in breach of (Galvin's) right to fair procedures and to a fair hearing".
