Caffrey tweaks team for final as Moran cleared to play
Dublin manager Paul Caffrey has made five changes to his team for Sunday's Leinster SFC final clash with Wexford at Croke Park (throw-in 4pm).
With Ross McConnell failing to impress against Westmeath, his place at full-back has surprisingly gone to the returning Paul Griffin, who is only just back in the panel after a trip to Australia.
Griffin returned to training last month, having missed the entire National League campaign. He has played just two competitive games for his club Kilmacud Crokes this season.
His Kilmacud club-mate Kevin Nolan, a star at Under-21 level, is set to make his SFC debut for the Dubs having been named at right half-back, in place of Colin Moran.
However, it has since emerged that Moran, who was fighting a four-week suspension, will be free to play this weekend after a successful hearing with the Disputes Resolution Authority last night.
The former team captain may yet start Sunday's showpiece encounter, with Nolan dropping back to the bench.
Caffrey's other confirmed switches include a return for Ciaran Whelan at midfield, while Diarmuid Connolly and Kevin Bonner will flank Jason Sherlock in the half-forward line.
Caffrey had delayed his team selection by 48 hours as Dublin gear up for what could be their fourth Leinster title win in-a-row.
Interestingly, 1995 was the last time the Dubs won four successive Leinster championships and that year also saw them go on to lift the Sam Maguire Cup.
This is the first Dublin-Wexford final since 1933 when Dublin won by 0-09 to 1-04.
The sides last met in the Leinster championship in 2005 when Dublin won a semi-final clash by 1-17 to 2-10. Tomas Quinn scored 0-10 for Dublin that dat, while PJ Banville was Wexford's top scorer with 1-02.
DUBLIN (SFC v Wexford) - S Cluxton; D Henry, P Griffin, S O'Shaughnessy; K Nolan, B Cullen, B Cahill; C Whelan, S Ryan; D Connolly, J Sherlock, K Bonner; A Brogan (capt), C Keaney, T Quinn.
