Jordan quits as Sligo manager
Tommy Jordan has stepped down as manager of the Sligo senior footballers, citing family reasons as central to his departure.
Jordan, who assumed control of the Sligo panel late last year, had a difficult season at the helm with the Yeats men relegated from National League Division 3 and failing to defend their Connacht title.
Sligo's league positioning and early exit from the Connacht championship means they will not be featuring in the All-Ireland qualifiers this summer.
They only have the Tommy Murphy Cup on the agenda for the remainder of the inter-county season - and their talisman Eamonn O'Hara has already said he will not be available for the Murphy Cup competition.
A statement from the Sligo County Board read: "Thomas Jordan has advised An Coiste Chontae that it is his wish to resign as senior team manager with immediate effect, because of personal family reasons.
"The County Executive Committee met on Monday evening and reluctantly accepted his resignation.
"The Executive thanked Thomas for his work on behalf of the senior squad in 2007/08. They especially wish him and his family all the best for the future."
Jordan's last match in charge was their 3-11 to 0-07 hammering at the hands of Mayo in the recent Connacht semi-final.
Managerless Sligo will play either Kilkenny or London in the Tommy Murphy Cup on July 19.
