Galvin awaiting outcome of appeal

Paul Galvin is anxiously await the result of his latest appeal of the six-month suspension he received for clashing with match officials when he was sent off against Clare on June 15.

The Kerry captain was up before the GAA's Central Appeals Committee (CAC) at Croke Park last night, along with a number of other players who were appealing bans, Monaghan's Paul Finlay being one of them.

With Cork meeting Kerry in the upcoming Munster final, CAC chairman and Corkman Jim Forbes stood down for Galvin's case to avoid any potential 'conflict of interest'.

Should Galvin fail to have his ban overturned or at least shortened, he will have the option of taking his case to the GAA's Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).

Down assistant manager DJ Kane, who is attempting to have a six-month sideline ban lifted, is expected to follow Galvin by appearing before the CAC in the coming days.

Kane will play no active part in Sunday's Ulster SFC semi-final between the Mourne men and Armagh.

Meanwhile, Galvin's Kerry team-mate Darragh O' Sé is admittedly 'hopeful' of playing in Sunday week's Munster decider against Cork.

O' Sé aggravated a groin injury in a challenge match against Meath in Templemore on Monday and is currently receiving physiotherapy treatment.

The All-Star midfielder insisted that the injury is 'responding well to the treatment' but that it is too early to say if he will be fit to line out against Cork.
