Laois 1-13 Mayo 1-13

MJ Tierney’s eighth and final point of this end-to-end NFL Division One encounter in Portlaoise ensured a stalemate between Laois and Mayo.

The draw gave both sides their first league points of 2008 but Laois will be kicking themselves after they had gone four points up early in the second half.

Converted full-forward Brendan Quigley pulled the trigger for a 31st-minute goal which sent the midlanders in 1-07 to 0-07 ahead at the break.

An Andy Moran penalty, after a foul on Trevor Mortimer, got Mayo back on terms. Full-forward Austin O’Malley top-scored for the visitors with 0-04 but there was no late winner.
