Kildare plump for Murphy as net minder
Enda Murphy has been recalled to the Kildare side for Sunday's NFL Division 1 meeting with Galway at Newbridge, throw-in 1.30pm.
The former Ireland International Rules goalkeeper will replace Thomas Corley after he started the Lilywhites' recent draw with Tyrone.
Murphy's inclusion is the only change Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney has made for this weekend's game.
1998 All Star Dermot Earley has been named again at full-forward despite his impressive switch to midfield during the Tyrone game.
Explaining the decision to keep Earley in attack, Kildare selector Niall Carew said: "Dermot did very well when he came out (around midfield). It's always a great option to bring him out but we want to persist with him at full forward for now.
"What we worked on hard over the last two weeks was the quality of ball going into Dermot. It was straight-line ball in Omagh and we're looking for it to be diagonal.
"In fairness to the lads, it was a tough night to get good ball in. With that strong wind it was very hard to judge it. I think the weather is supposed to be good for the weekend and that would suit us much better," he told the Kildare Nationalist.
It is unclear yet whether panellist Terry Rossiter will be part of the Kildare matchday squad after the death of his father Mick last week.
Darryl Flynn (shoulder), Mark Scanlon (leg) and Michael Foley (broken hand) have all been on the treatment table, but Padraig O'Neill could make his first appearance of the season for the Lilywhites, as a substitute, after recovering from a groin injury.
Meanwhile, Galway will welcome back former captain Padraic Joyce from suspension for Sunday's encounter.
Two of Liam Sammon's three changes are enforced with defenders Kieran Fitzgerald (leg) and Damien Blake (groin) both out injured.
Alan Burke gets the nod at right corner-back with Niall Coyne shifting to centre back and Gary Sice starting on the right wing.
Mark Lydon's involvement with Moycullen in Sunday's All-Ireland Intermediate club final means Niall Coleman moves to midfield to partner Joe Bergin, with Cormac Bane being promoted to the half-forward line.
Joyce's inclusion on the forty also sees Fiachra Breathnach squeezed out of the Tribesmen's starting line-up.
Sunday's game will have a 1.30pm throw-in after Galway requested the earlier time due to Moycullen being in the All-Ireland Intermediate club final.
