O'Hara fitness boost for Sligo
Former All-Star Eamonn O'Hara has given Connacht champions Sligo a huge boost by proving his fitness ahead of tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Cork (Croke Park, throw-in 2pm).
O'Hara was forced to watch the closing 20 minutes of last month's Connacht final win over Galway from the sidelines after suffering a knee injury. But his recovery has afforded manager Tommy Breheny the chance to name an unchanged team for tomorrow's last-eight clash.
Corner forward John McPartland, who tweaked his ankle during the Connacht final's post-match celebrations, has also been passed fit and retains his place at top of the left.
Sligo have only met Cork once previously in the championship. They lost 3-13 to 0-11 to the Rebels in a fourth round qualifier in 2005.
The Yeats men are in the All-Ireland quarter-finals for the first time since 2002 and are bidding to reach the last-four for the first time since 1975 when they were last Connacht champions.
Speaking ahead of the trip to GAA headquarters, Sligo boss Breheny
said: "It's going to be a difficult game. We'll give Cork respect, but we certainly won't fear them. We had no preference as to who we'd face as there are no easy games at this stage.
"Cork were unlucky in their Munster final defeat to Kerry, and at the start of the year they would have been considered as All-Ireland contenders. They will be up another level compared to the games we played against Galway and Roscommon."
