McLoughlin added to Meath team

Wolfe Tones clubman Niall McLoughlin has been named in the Meath team to take on Fermanagh in tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier (Pairc Tailteann, throw-in 7pm).

Meath boss Colm Coyle has made just one change to the side that defeated Down by 1-10 to 0-8 last weekend. McLoughlin starts at right half-forward at the expense of John Donegan.

McLoughlin came on for Donegan as a first half substitute in the win in Newry and did enough to press his starting claims.

Colm O'Rourke's teenage son Shane continues at full-forwards for the Royals, while team captain Anthony Moyles will once again be deployed as a centre-forward.

Meanwhile, Westmeath manager Tomas O Flatharta has kept faith with the team that beat Longford last week for tomorrow's qualifier visit of Donegal to Cusack Park (throw-in 7pm).

Gary Dolan, who recently underwent an eye operation, retains his place at full-forward having started in the 0-18 to 0-9 victory over Longford.

Undoubtedly the biggest head-to-head battle will see Dolan's brother Dessie, the team captain, trying to get the better of 2006 All-Star Karl Lacey at top of the left.

Louth, who squeezed past Limerick last weekend, had made one change to their starting side - Darren Clarke earns a deserved recall - for tomorrow's qualifier trip to Kildare (Newbridge, throw-in 7pm).

Clarke helped turn the first round tie against Limerick in Louth's favour as he was sprung from the bench to kick two points and set up another crucial late score in the 0-14 to 0-13 success.

Clarke replaces JJ Quigley in the left corner as the only alteration manager Eamonn McEneaney has made to last week's team.

Louth managed to bounce back quite considerably from losing seven of their panellists in recent weeks, including Jamie Carr, David Reid and Mark Brennan who are playing club football in America.

Michael Fanning, John Neary, Brian White and Colm Judge were amongst the new players to step up to the mark against Limerick, and McEneaney was suitably impressed.

"I think an injection of new blood into any situation is good. In our case, it was fortuitous that these fellas were training with the panel anyway on what we term the extended panel so they knew what was required. Plus it upped the stakes in training," McEneaney admitted.
