O'Neill doubtful for Kildare qualifier
Versatile forward Padraig O'Neill could be in danger of missing Kildare's All-Ireland SFC first round qualifier on July 7.
O'Neill aggravated an old groin injury during St Laurence's county league win against Athy last weekend and is waiting on the results of a scan to determine his availability for John Crofton's Lilywhites.
Kildare will learn of their July 7 opponents when the draw for the opening round of the qualifiers is made this Sunday.
O'Neill would be a big loss to a Kildare attack that failed to fire in last month's Leinster first round defeat to Meath.
Kildare boss John Crofton has bulked up his panel in recent weeks with the addition of five players - Alan Barry (Sarsfields), Joe Kavanagh (Robertstown), John O'Donoghue (Kilcock), Terry Rossiter (Carbury) and John Fogarty (St Laurence's).
While the additions are only likely to see challenge match action - the Lilywhites have played Westmeath and Galway recently and took on All-Ireland champions Kerry on Tuesday night - the fact that four of the new players are forwards is a clear sign that Crofton wants to sharpen up his attacking lines.
