Clancy doubtful for Connacht semi

Galway could be without versatile forward Matthew Clancy for Sunday week's Connacht SFC semi-final clash with Leitrim at the new-look Páirc Sean MacDiarmada.

Clancy injured his hamstring whilst playing for his club Oughterard in an Intermediate championship fixture with Micheal Breathnach's on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old attacker, who was sprung from the bench for Galway's first round win over Mayo last month, is facing a race against time to recover for the provincial semi-final.

The game in Carrick-on-Shannon will mark the official opening of the new 3,000-seater stand at Páirc Sean MacDiarmada.

Three matches will take place at the venue on June 24 - the Connacht minor football clash between Sligo and Galway (throw-in 12.10pm), the senior game between Leitrim and Galway (throw-in 2pm) and the Ted Webb first round tie between Leitrim and Galway (throw-in 5pm).

Some of the fine new facilities at Páirc Sean MacDiarmada include projectors and DVD players for analysis - with media links to team analyst boxes on the upper tier of the new stand - and ice-baths in the dressing rooms.

The stand's upper tier boasts a state-of-the-art media centre with fully sound-proofed radio boxes and space for other media outlets plus corporate and meeting areas, while the middle tier houses the offices of Leitrim GAA and space for a museum which is expected to be opened in the coming weeks.
