Committee to meet over Geraghty incidents
Meath's Graham Geraghty is likely to find out tomorrow or Thursday if he is to face disciplinary action for connecting with David Henry's face on two occasions during Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final draw with Dublin.
Geraghty was yellow carded in the closing stages of the Croke Park thriller for a wayward tackle on Ray Cosgrove.
But two earlier challenges he put in on his marker Henry, which saw him raise a hand to the Dublin defender's face as he attempted to dispossess him, could yet land him in hot water.
The GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCC) are set to discuss the matter tomorrow - at the earliest - after viewing the report of match referee Jimmy McKee.
The CCC, a new disciplinary body, suspended eight Cork and Clare players last week for clashing as they came out of the tunnel for their Munster SHC tie in Thurles.
TV replays show that the second incident involving Geraghty and Henry is the more severe, although when referee McKee stopped play he awarded a free to Dublin and kept his cards in his pocket.
Geraghty, who captained the Royals to the 1999 All-Ireland title, was in inspirational form as he helped Meath bounce back from an early 0-5 to 0-0 deficit against the Dubs.
The 34-year-old attacker had a goal ruled out for a foul in the first half, while he also had a penalty claim turned down in the second period.
Should he be suspended, his presence in the Meath full-forward line for Sunday week's replay would be sorely missed.
While Geraghty faces an anxious wait, the Royals will definitely be boosted by the availability of their league top scorer Brian Farrell, whose current suspension will run out before the June 17 game.
