Dublin-Derry match to mark Na Fianna opening
The senior football teams of Dublin and Derry will play a challenge match this Saturday to mark the official opening of the redeveloped clubhouse and all-weather training pitch at the Na Fianna club on Mobhi Road.
Throw-in for the game, which is the Dubs' last outing before they begin their Leinster title defence on June 3, is at 6.30pm.
Dublin manager Paul Caffrey said: "It is a great honour for me, as a Na Fianna club man of the last 35 years, to bring the Dublin senior football team to mark the official opening of our newly developed clubhouse."
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern who will perform the official opening, added: "The fantastic facilties here are the culmination of seven years of hard work by the Development Committee and many other volunteers within this club. The redevelopment of Mobhi Road is testament to the very ethos of the GAA - a spirit of volunteerism, a sense of community and a will to make things happen."
Na Fianna, whose senior team includes Armagh duo Kieran McGeeney and Enda McNulty and Mayo's Kevin O'Neill, currently has over 400 adult-playing members, over 700 non-playing members and over 850 minor members involved with over 60 football, hurling and camogie teams and handball.
