McCarthy denies rift in Cork hurling camp
There is no disharmony in the Cork hurling camp and there were no bust-ups in training, team boss Gerald McCarthy claimed today.
A number of players have withdrawn from the Cork panel in recent times, including corner-back Wayne Sherlock, fuelling speculation all was not rosy.
McCarthy denied the rumours, stating that the players who had left did so on good terms with the management.
“There have been no bust-ups in training as people were talking about,” he said.
“Overall, it’s a happy camp, a very happy camp. I wish all the three players the best but we will be talking to them again to try and coax them back.”
McCarthy was delighted with the victory over the Banner County.
“It gives lie to the silly stories we heard about training, this that and bust-ups.”
Cork have a fortnight to prepare for a semi-final showdown with either Tipperary or Waterford, who meet this weekend.
