Dolan pays tribute to Cork ladies
Cork County Board chairman Mick Dolan paid tribute to the titanic efforts of the double-winning Cork ladies footballers yesterday.
He was in Croke Park to cheer on the Rebels and explained they are the pride of Leeside.
“Winning doubles every year is something we’d love the lads to be doing,” he said.
The Rebels made it back-to-back doubles for both camogie and ladies footballers and in league and championship for the Éamonn Ryan coached side.
Angela Walsh from Killeagh played a part in all six of those games and explained that Cork’s ability to deal with the pressure of finals told in the finish.
“We knew how strong Armagh would be. They made us work all the way.
“We’ve played in so many big games in the last two years that at half-time we focused on our strengths and getting it right for the second half and thankfully it came good in the end.”
Angela was the rock at full-back for Cork and was joined in the second half by her sister Ciara.
“We’ll celebrate all right for a couple of days, but we’re playing the Cork camogie final on Sunday with Imokilly against the Barrs, so we’ve that to look forward to as well.”
