Galway ladies 'point' to umpire's error
The Galway County Ladies Football Board have lodged an objection to the result of Saturday's TG4 All-Ireland Ladies SFC semi-final between the Tribeswomen and Armagh.
Sharon Duncan hit over a free in the final seconds at Hyde Park to secure a 1-13 to 1-12 win for Armagh and their path into their first ever All-Ireland final.
However, in the previous attack, Galway had had a legitimate point signalled wide by one of the umpires.
Video evidence has backed up the Galway officials' claims that substitute Barbara Hannon's shot did, in fact, go through the Armagh posts and not to the left and wide.
That score would have been crucial with the sides tied at 1-12 apiece, but Armagh raced up the field to point just before the final hooter.
Galway ladies manager PJ Fahy said: "We're just disappointed that a score we got, which would have probably been the winning score, was waved wide in error.
"On video evidence, it is clearly a point and I think we are entitled to a replay."
The Galway Board are set to lodge their objection with the GAA this morning.
